Variety, The Children's Charity of Southern Nevada

Founded in 1950, Variety, The Children's Charity of Southern Nevada, is a 501 (c) 3 organization, dedicated to providing services for children with special needs in the Las Vegas community since 1950.

Serving more than 20,000 special-needs children, Variety, The Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada, has donated more than $7 million worth of goods, services and money to children’s programs affiliated with 36 local agencies. Variety provides charitable support to the Kids on the Go! Mobility Program, Sunshine Coach Transportation Program, Kids in Need Temporary Assistance Program, Learning for Kids Experiential Tools Program and Kids at Play Therapeutic Recreational Program.

In 1950, Variety Clubs International granted a charter to a group of local resort and entertainment executives “to hold a Tent of The Midway located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and to be known as Tent No. 39.” For many years, Tent 39 sponsored the annual “Night of Stars,” which attracted thousands to the old Elks Stadium and later at Cashman Field to be entertained by some of the biggest names in show business, including Elizabeth Taylor, Red Skelton, Jack Benny, Jane Russell and Sammy Davis Jr.

Today, Variety International has a network of 43 Tents in 13 countries to offer financial assistance and services to children and organizations that serve children with special needs.

Oscar Night Las Vegas

Experience a weekend of the excitement and glamour of Hollywood in The City of Entertainment on Feb. 25-26, 2012, at Oscar Night Las Vegas, the only Academy Awards celebration in Nevada officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Experience the anticipation of the Academy Awards as The City of Entertainment officially salutes visiting celebrities at a Pre-Oscar Night Welcome Reception with hosted bar and sumptuous hors d'oeuvres on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., in the Fantasy Suites at The Palms Casino Resort.

On Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., meet and greet film, television and show business celebrities as they arrive at by limousine at The Palms Casino Resort West Entrance to walk the Oscar Night Las Vegas Red Carpet - a fantastic opportunity for celebrity autographs and photos!

Watch Hollywood red carpet arrivals and the ABC TV live telecast of the 84th Academy Awards at the Oscar Night Las Vegas viewing parties in the Brenden Theatres at The Palms Casino Resort with wall-to-wall curved screens, stadium seating with great sightlines luxury rocker high-back seats with lift-up armrest and cup holders, plus a food and beverage concession offering classic movie theatre from candy and popcorn to soft-drinks and light snacks.

Each Oscar Night ticket holder will receive a $20 voucher for Brenden Theatres food and beverage concessions and an Oscar Night Las Vegas full-color souvenir program. Plus, as a special Oscar Night feature, cocktail service also will be available at non-hosted lobby bars.

Hollywood red carpet arrivals will be telecast live on the big screen starting at 4:00 p.m., followed by the 84th Academy Awards live telecast at 5:30 p.m.
